Cynthia Erivo recently wore another dramatic gown for the “Wicked” premiere in Mexico City. Only this time, her outfit had extra hands. On Monday, Erivo attended the upcoming fantasy film’s screening alongside co-stars Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey. The actors are currently on a world tour ahead of their highly-anticipated movie’s debut, and they each wear outfits to channel their onscreen characters. Grande often dons pink ensembles to represent her character, Glinda, while Erivo wears witchy dresses like Elphaba.
Cynthia Erivo rocked glamorous gown with extra hands at ‘Wicked’ Mexico City premiere
While in Mexico City for the “Wicked” premiere, Cynthia Erivo leveled up the dramatics of her gown, channeling Elphaba in every way possible. The star wore a head-turning all-black outfit with dramatic nails to turn up the theatrics of the film’s promotional tour for an enchanted forest theme premiere.
The embellished dress had a structured waist and coat-like addition that acted as headgear and had two extra hands stemming from the shoulders. She paired the unusual ensemble with boots and accessorized with a septum ring, a series of rings on her fingers, and a manicure.
Compared to Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba-inspired gown, Ariana Grande wore a light pink, plunging gown for the Mexico City “Wicked” premiere. Her dress had a corset-like bodice with a ruffled frock for a skirt, as seen in the Instagram Stories of the “Wicked” movie’s account. The actors posed on the red carpet in their contrasting ensembles as co-star Jonathan Bailey joined them, wearing a rather casual outfit. Bailey sported a white vest with casual pants and a purple waistband. He topped off the look with a blazer.
Previously, Cynthia Erivo wore a green, plunging latex dress for the Los Angeles premiere of “Wicked.” The film’s official Instagram account shared photos and videos of the co-stars arriving at the event in their character-inspired outfits. She paired the floor-length dress with matching, pointed-toe heels and accessorized with a thick diamond-encrusted choker necklace. Enchantingly, the neckpiece comprised a huge green gem that further completed the Erivo’s Elphaba look.
“Wicked” arrives in theatres across the U.S. on November 22, 2024.
