Change remains in the air at Harper’s Bazaar Italia HQ. Earier this year, Massimo Russo was named editor-in-chief (having succeeded Daria Veledeeva). Stefano Tonchi became editorial director and Paul Sinclaire was appointed fashion editor at large. The first issue under the new team in September gave us a whole plethora of covers lensed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. To close out 2024, Harper’s Bazaar Italia rounds out the year with an Anja Rubik cover offering. The Polish beauty is put before the lens of photographer Willy Vanderperre. The Belgian lensman captured Rubik in black and white for the occasion, with cover shoot stylist Paul Sinclaire selecting a look from Anthony Vaccarello’s Fall 2024 Saint Laurent collection.

“Hum… I don’t know, but I think that’s more of a NO than a YES for me!” sighed DK92.

“It’s just too weird of a pose,” kokobombon chimed in.

EDEN12 wasn’t best impressed either. “I like Anja Rubik but I’m starting to get a little tired of the sexy-gollum posing she does all the time,” they critiqued.

“Anja is a beautiful woman but seems to be completely burnt out as a model. She has been phoning it in for a long time. Maybe she should retire or disappear for some time, and come back when she has something to offer besides the usual sad face and same set of poses,” voiced avonlea002.

Yet not everyone was left so dismayed. “I love it, and I love Anja. I actually like the oddity of the cover pose, it’s unexpected,” jeremydante defended.

“The covers of Harper’s Bazaar Italia had become so stale, that the sight of this is much-welcomed,” vogue28 appreciated. “The use of the gold masthead with the black and white feels very celebratory and festive. Plus, I will never tire over the sight of Anja Rubik!”
