Not even a full 24 hours have passed since the fashion world digested the news of Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez taking up the mantel at Loewe, and now we’re forced to come to terms with even more major news. Today, the Mugler brand announced the appointment of Miguel Castro as creative director – succeeding Casey Cadwallader. The resume of the Central Saint Martins graduate includes stints at Sportmax, Dries Van Noten, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, and Lanvin. The Portuguese designer will stage his debut Mugler collection during Paris Fashion Week in September.,

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Thank God it’s not Panszczyk from Area.” [perhydrol]

“Oh my…” [proseccotabis]

“Who cares about this guy and who cares about the Proenza guys? Is anyone truly excited about these new appointments and the ones coming up?” [tatouejeremie]

“Casey Cadwallader wasn’t my favorite and some of his stuff felt more like it was designed to create an ‘iconic momen’ for the ‘yaaas kween’ type of crowd. However, with the H&M collab and the Torso directed fashion shows I feel like it brought some attention to the brand. I wish the best for the new guy.” [Yasouss]

“Good Lord. How many designers has Mugler had in the past 20 years? I feel like they switch designers every few years, with Casey being the only one who’s managed to have some sort of impact. But, yeah, good luck to the new guy.” [engenius]

“There is absolutely no reason for this brand to continue existing in 2025. So dated and of its time. Let it die please…” [kingtheyskens]
