I’m rehired! Suckers. My new contact will be iron clad, so you know they are serious. Just let me sit down at this suspiciously placed table so I can sign my contract! Wait what’s that music? Yeti?! What are you doing here? No wait! Please don’t. Oh goodness this hurts. I’ll
sign, I’ll sign!

Ahhhh here it goes!

Dark Horse is bringing legendary creator Kentaro Miura’s idea to life with art by Studio Gaga. “In ancient times, a wondrous child was born of the gods. Neither human nor god, neither male nor female, Usumgal has an inventive mind that can create solutions where they are needed most. Descending from the holy mountain, Usumgal finds friends among humans, and with each fateful encounter comes adventure and, perhaps, their destiny!”
The paperback arrives September 16th.

At last this week from Dark Horse is Tramps of the Apocalypse. Creator Alice Darrow has prepared a 3 issue series. “In Tramps of the Apocalypse, the year is 2094, and men rule the world. So, what has changed in 70 years, you ask? Following the ten-year Sildenafil wars of 2053, Earth has become a barren wasteland. Factions of surviving men led by “Quest Ragnor, King of Males” have taken over the remnants of cities and towns across the globe, capturing and enslaving all women…Well, all women except for three super bimbos with unparalleled bloodlust and an unquenchable thirst for violence: Baby, Belladonna, and Babette. Unwilling to bend to the whims and desires of the buffoons in charge, too slippery to be caught, and too sexy for chains, these three bangin’ babes are at the top of Quest Ragnor’s most wanted list. Unfortunately for him, they couldn’t care less.”
Find it June 25th.

Fresh from Comixology Originals is the book Major Thomas. This book features team Omar Morales and Serg Acuna/Mau Mora. “In the near future, the launch clock to all of Thomás’ dreams counts down, but even after years of elite NASA training, he’s still not ready to let go of Earth. When he ends up lost in space he is stranded far away from our solar system and becomes entangled in a savage intergalactic war. Violent reptoids are hell-bent on destroying Thomás, and the robots he befriends, in their quest to control all of the resources in the star system. Throughout the brutal war, Thomás’ mind remains focused on cultural lessons learned from his mother and now-love interest, Lisa, who is back on Earth, working on a rescue plan with NASA. Will Thomás survive both the intergalactic battle and overcome the war raging inside of him?”

Łukasz Majcher of Moom Comics brings In Between The Trees. “In Between the Trees is a queer graphic story that immerses the reader in the psychologically complex world of a cult, explored through the perspective of Mathilde, a journalist investigating the group. Set in the picturesque yet isolated Corbières region in southern France, Mathilde becomes fascinated by the community and falls in love with one of its members, Anita. The story delves into themes of identity, love, freedom, and the dynamics of manipulation and control. Will Mathilde choose to stay for love, or will she leave the group?”

Next up we have DJ Wooldridge and Sean Peacock new project. “DANGER BOi & THE ANTAGONiSTS is a cyberpunk action-thriller that aims to reimagine the superhero genre for the 21st Century! Picture the energetic post-modern heroics of Invincible, fused with the dynamic neon grit of Batman Beyond, with a hyperactive dash of Super Sentai, and you’ll be close to envisioning this ALL-NEW 44 PAGE COMIC that follows Danger Boi and a team of misunderstood outsiders as they struggle to save the city of Las Torres from the world’s most powerful (so-called) heroes!”

Moving on to solo creator supreme Emilia Strilchuk who has launched Oriana: The Forgotten Deities. “In a world abandoned by the Gods ages ago, their absence robbed humanity of their powers, resulting in devastation and natural calamities, leaving only myths behind. The delicate harmony between the human realm and the world of magic that once existed thousands of years ago, has been gone for ages. Karolina, a young girl, stumbles upon an ancient secret that could change everything. As she embarks on a journey of discovery, she soon realizes that not all is as it seems.”

Creator Devin Arscott returns, this time with artist Emanuele Tommarelli. “In the city of Thebes, Herakles has stopped to rest from his travels, but that rest is interrupted due to Hera’s machinations and unwavering hatred. Hera enlists the aid of Ares and his Dogs of War, who are sent to kill Herakles, and end him once and for all!”

What Wood I Buy?
I end this with a homage to something I adored from the old Comic Book Resource site. I dug into the catalog of what is in the shops this week and I tell you what I would buy if I had $5, $15 or magically $30 to spend on comics in a given week. Hopefully, I will bring on some friends and we can get some varied tastes and maybe help you find a new favorite?
If I Had $5

I come into a comic shop this week with a fiver I am going to leave with with Jumpscare. The idea of a hero that can conjure horror movie weapons is a gas. I am a fan of Cullen Bunn’s work especially Sixth Gun. Excited to see what Danny Luckert is bring in this book.
If I Had $15

Light week and it looks like would not use my full $15, but I would like to try out FML. Maybe I’d cheat and use my left over to get issue one of the series as well. I really enjoy previous David Lopez books curious what this series is all about.
If I Had $30

Same with the last tier the picking is a bit light. So I think I would try to get issues 1&2 or Warm Fusion. This image is a total sale and the pitch of Robocop meets Videodrome piques my reader brain.
