It has been the worst-kept secret in fashion. Finally, the announcement(?) has dropped that Jonathan Anderson is now the creative director of Dior Men. For months, rumors have been rampant that the revered British designer was to replace Maria Grazia Chiuri at Christian Dior. Today, at LVMH’s annual shareholders’ meeting in Paris, Bernard Arnault announced Anderson has replaced Kim Jones (who parted ways with the fabled French fashion house in January). Last month, Anderson departed Loewe as creative director following a celebrated 10-year tenure. During the upcoming Spring 2026 season of Menswear Paris Fashion Week in June, the London College of Fashion graduate (and our 2023 Designer of the Year) will present his debut collection.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Finally some movement!” [Salvatore]

“Wish he could debut with a womenswear collection but happy they finally announced him. Can’t wait to see what he does!” [Creative]

“Such an underwhelming announcement. Bernard only confirmed it because a shareholder asked him during a meeting? LOL!” [fashionmarketeditor]

“I’m starting to think there’s something troublesome going on with MGC’s departure/Jonathan’s arrival that is hampering the proper announcements. This is so unlike LMHV to just throw what would be their biggest news of the year so casually in a shareholder meeting.” [Marc10]

“I love how random the announcement was. I mean, it’s the worst kept secret of the industry and the man has been working there already. They did not bother doing a press release probably because they are waiting for MCG to leave in order to properly appoint him.” [Lola701]

Very happy for him to finally get some validation from the top but still the way they handling the change of reign is just embarrassing.” [Olaffo]
